Your journey begins in the lively city of Split, on the Adriatic coast. At the heart of it all is Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, standing strong for over 1,700 years. Today, it is not just a site that attracts history junkies, but a life-filled city with cosy cafés, hidden courtyards, and locals going about their day right inside its old stone walls. By 6 pm, meet with your leader and small-group of adventurers who will be sharing in the journey. It’s also a relaxed moment to say hello, get to know each other, and hear about the exciting experiences that lie ahead. We kick things off properly with a warm Croatian welcome dinner hosted by your leader. You can expect a table filled with traditional Dalmatian dishes, a heartfelt camaraderie, and your first taste of the local flavors and culture. Nestled in the heart of Split's historic core, a mere stone's throw from the ancient Diocletian's Palace, the Art Hotel Depandance invites you into a world of refined comfort and serene indulgence. Surrender to tranquility in the lavish wellness centre, where a shimmering pool, soothing saunas, and rejuvenating treatments await to restore your balance after a day of exploration. |

Approx. 7 km (4 miles), 2-3 hours walking We set off this morning on a one-hour ferry to Brač, an island famous for its bright, almost-glowing limestone. It is also a known fact that this highly prized limestone was used to build parts of Diocletian’s Palace, and some even say it made its way to the White House. Our destination is the port town of Supetar (on the northern side of the island), from where we drive inland (around 20 minutes) to the start of our hike in Gažul. This path winds steadily upward through rugged karst landscape, revealing just how raw and untouched this island can feel. At the top, we reach Vidova Gora, the highest point on any Adriatic Island at 778-780 meters (2552-2559 ft), and one of the finest vantage points in the region. From here, the views stretch endlessly: the deep blue Adriatic Sea below, the iconic horn-shaped Zlatni Rat beach curling out from Bol directly beneath us, islands like Hvar (prominently in the foreground) and Korčula scattered across the horizon, often with Vis visible as well, and the long curve of the Pelješac Peninsula stretching into the distance on clear days. It is the kind of view that overwhelms the climb, making it feel more than worth it. |

As we walk, our leader shares stories of ancient settlements, traditional shepherd life, and how this rocky terrain has shaped everything from local architecture to the way people live. Soon, we descend and slow things down with a visit to the Olive Oil Museum in Škrip, also one of the oldest settlements on the island. Get to taste locally made olive oil and enjoy a light, simple lunch, just as it’s been done for generations. We return to Split (by ferry) and our hotel later in the day to relax and revisit memories of today’s adventure. |

Today is completely up to you. You can choose how you want to spend it, out on the sea, cycling through nature, or just relaxing in Split. Option 1: Full-day boat trip to Vis, Blue Cave, and Hvar Option 2: Marjan Park e-bike tour Alternatively, take a laidback approach in Split. There is also the option to enjoy a free day in the city. Walk around the old palace cellars, or go for a swim at Bačvice Beach, where locals like to hang out and play a little ball game in the water. Whatever you choose, today is all about going at your own pace. |

After breakfast, we board a catamaran for a southward journey (around three hours) to Korčula, said to be the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Once we check into our hotel, we head out again for a sea kayaking experience along the coastline, passing small islands and quiet pine-lined shores. As you paddle, you may decide not just to glide above, but pause for a swim and enjoy the clear water. Come evening, we take a relaxed walk through the Old Town, leisurely exploring its tight, winding streets. There are also small local taverns where you may stop to try a glass of pošip wine, a specialty of the island. |

Approx. 17 km (11 miles), 3-5 hours walking Once again, our morning kicks off with a short (about 45 minutes) catamaran ride to an island widely considered the greenest in Croatia. Mljet sits on the southern part of Dalmatia (near Dubrovnik), and once we arrive, we take out our bikes for an easy loop around Veliko and Malo Jezero. These two calm saltwater lakes are surrounded by tall pine trees, which makes the area feel like a shaded oasis. Right down to the waters edge, dense Aleppo pine forests stretch up the path, filling the air with a hypnotic, resinous scent while providing a cool relief from the Adriatic sun. As you cycle here, it’s both an opportunity to savor a quiet ride and to take in the fragrant, scenic views. Along the way, we visit the St Mary islet, sitting right in the middle of the lake, and home to a 12th-century monastery. Built by monks who chose this remote spot for its quiet and natural beauty, this tiny island has been a place of prayer, learning, and retreat. Today, you can walk through the old stone building, soak up the peaceful surroundings, and enjoy views of the lake from all sides. Once we have had our fill, we head back to Korčula in the afternoon. |

Today, we leave Korčula behind, boarding a ferry (about 30 minutes) to the Pelješac Peninsula, known for its strong red wines, especially Dingač and Plavac Mali. Our arrival here brings us to a local vineyard where we get to taste and try a few wines, well paired with simple local snacks like pršut (prosciutto), cheese, olives, or fresh bread. This region takes a lot into account when crafting its signature reds; unique factors like steep, south-facing slopes (often 45° or more), intense "triple insolation" from direct sun, sea reflections, and heat-radiating white pebbles in the soil, plus karst limestone bedrock rich in potassium. These extreme conditions help the Plavac Mali grape thrive, producing full-flavored wine with higher alcohol (often 13–17%). The taste is even better, with dark fruits like blackberry and plum jam, along with hints of dried figs, carob, spices, pepper, and sometimes even a bit of leather or earthy, mineral notes. We continue to Dubrovnik (around two hours), following the vineyard visit and tasting. Later in the afternoon, set out on a guided walk through the UNESCO-listed Old Town, with lots of history to uncover. Our path passes along the smooth limestone main street, where you can see old palaces from the Renaissance period, along with the strong city walls that once protected the old Republic of Ragusa. |

Croatia has one of the sunniest climates in Europe, and some regions are notoriously free from rain. We generally travel off-season, so you should expect some variation in temperature and possibly some rainfall. Temperatures can be high, particularly in July, averaging around 30C (86F).
The walking level on this trip is rated Level 3 Moderate.
Level 1 Leisurely: Experience is not necessary; anyone fit and healthy enough to complete a weekend walk will thrive. Walks are often optional. Trails are seldom flat, so expect a reasonable number of ascents and descents. You normally walk for two to five hours per day; daily ascents will likely be around 985ft to 1,640ft (300m to 500m), perhaps with the odd day around 1,970ft (600m).
Level 3 Moderate: Expect easy, medium-length walks or harder, shorter walks. Some experience is useful, but not essential. Good health and reasonable fitness are important. There will be walks at higher altitudes and some longer, harder days. Generally, though, the underfoot conditions will be fair. A walking day is normally five to seven hours; daily ascents will likely be around 1,640ft to 2,625ft (500m to 800m), perhaps with the odd day around 2,955ft to 3,280ft (900m to 1,000m).
Level 5 Challenging: Fitness is vital with extended walking in mountainous terrain. You might also experience high altitude, challenging climates and remote locations. Trekking experience is desirable, but not vital if you are confident in your physical condition. Walking days are usually between six and eight hours, although they may be longer for passes or peaks. Daily ascents can be around 2,955ft to 3,280ft (900m to 1,000m), perhaps with the odd day around 3,610ft to 3,940ft (1,100m to 1,200m).
Level 7 Tough: Trekking experience is essential and preferably at altitude. You need complete confidence in your ability to trek for many days over difficult terrain. You may encounter extreme altitude and weather conditions and may need to use ice axes and crampons. Stamina is essential as walking days last six to nine hours (sometimes more on occasions). Daily ascents will likely be around 2,955ft to 3,280ft (900m to 1,000m), perhaps with the odd day around 3,610ft to 3,940ft (1,100m to 1,200m).
Split and optional grades: Where a trip falls between two grades, an intermediate or ‘split’ grade is used. For example, Level 2 (Leisurely/Moderate). Occasionally there are optional ascents available; in this case, the grade will be highlighted.
Transport: Our transfers are in a private minibus and we cross the Adriatic by ferry.
Food: Croatian cuisine reflects a blend of Mediterranean, Central European and Balkan influences. Along the coast, seafood dominates, prepared simply with olive oil, garlic, and fresh herbs. Local specialties include peka (meat or seafood slow-cooked under an iron dome), ćevapi, and cheeses. Fresh produce, wine, and olive oil are staples, while pastries, such as strudels and fritule, highlight the diverse culinary heritage of the country.

Onlyluxe Travel and the tour operator may require an assessment of your medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. If you fail to adequately notify the tour operator of any pre-existing medical conditions and/or disability, the tour operator reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel your participation in a trip at any time, including after the commencement of your trip, with no right of refund if your medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the trip and the enjoyment of other trip members.
Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a tour with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the tour has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any tour up to 60 days prior to departure if the minimum number requirement is unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the tour or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.
Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.
Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.
For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.
Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
