Classed as one of 'New Zealand's Great Walks', you'll marvel at giant native trees and secluded beaches, soak up the fascinating spiritual history, and enjoy truly breathtaking views. This lodge based hiking expedition is one of the North Island's most unforgettable wilderness escapes.
Enclosed by the pristine native forest of Te Urewera National Park, Lake Waikaremoanais believed to be New Zealand's last frontier. This was the last place to be explored by European settlers, and due to its rugged and remote nature it is still like stepping back 100 years in time. It is the ancestral home of the Maori tribe Ngai Tuhoe - the 'Children of the Mist', and has the largest area of native forest in the North Island. Along the Lake Waikaremoana Tack, you will enjoy prehistoric rainforest, wetland, waterfalls, perfect sunsets, birdsong and spiritual history.
This is a full guided and all inclusive walking tour. Each day you walk 4-7 hours over varied terrain on formed trails guided by experienced local guides.
