The Flinders Ranges Arkaba Outback Walk 4D3N is a 4-day luxury walk based at 60,000 acres of private conservancy set against the remarkable backdrop of the Elder Range and Wilpena Pound. At Arkaba we have 60,000 acres of private conservancy for you to enjoy quality time in the beautiful surrounds of nature and wildlife. There’s no better way to take in the sights and sounds of the outback than by exploring on foot – tracking wildlife using their habits and behavioural cues, learning stories of early pioneers and one of Australia’s oldest landscapes.

Two nights are spent camping in a deluxe swag set atop an elevated timber platform with views of this spectacular desert region. The final night is spent at the restored 1850s Arkaba Homestead - a luxury country farmhouse. All meals on this walk are freshly prepared 3-course affairs, accompanied by fine wine, like minded company and the sounds of the outback.

When planning to head truly remote ‑ away from even the main walking trails ‑ camels are the perfect travelling companions in the outback. Carrying your food, water and swags on a traditional pack saddle, these ships of the desert, many of which featured in the movie 'Tracks' by Robin Davidson, will allow you to gain a real sense of isolation as you absorb the beauty of the natural surroundings in this wild part of Australia that is home to Lake Frome and Wilpena Pound. Appreciate the bird life, yellow footed wallabies, flora, station and old lead mine ruins and remnants as you travel along dry creek beds, through rugged plains country and past sheer rock faces and large gorges that are generally not accessible to travellers and locals alike. At night, your expert local guide will share his astronomy knowledge as you star gaze up at the dark night sky. During this camel supported walk there is no vehicle support with one camel saddled for riding should guests wish to experience this as part of their adventure

The Flinders Ranges is the largest mountain range in South Australia and lies about 200km north of Adelaide. On this 5-day walking tour, you’ll visit many renowned landmarks including Wilpena Pound, the Heysen Trail, Brachina Gorge and Alligator Gorge. From the air, Wilpena Pound looks like a crater, an enormous bowl almost 100 kilometres (62 miles) wide that towers above the surrounding plains. A geological marvel that has remained in place since long before the dawn of mankind. During this tour you will also trek a section of the Heysen Trail which stretches over 1,200km in its entirety between Parachilna Gorge and Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
