Itinerary
Level 2, Approx. 45 kilometres (28 miles), Elevation gain: 335 m (1,100 ft) Welcome to the enchanting Dolomites! Your arrival at the Four Points Sheraton Bolzano is treated with a warm welcome by one of your trip leaders. Once settled in, we take a shuttle to Canazei, your starting point for this adventure, and even more exciting, the gateway to the renowned Dolomiti Superski region. Take a moment to bask in the views of the towering Dolomite massifs that surround you amidst the region's picturesque architecture. For your first riding day, we cycle through Trentino’s Val di Fassa. This stunning valley, where Italian and Ladin cultures converge, stretches southwest from the formidable Sella Group—an iconic masterpiece of the Dolomites and one of its most commanding natural spectacles. With your anticipation high, your bike is prepped and ready, followed by a safety and technique briefing—then it’s time to hit the trails. We glide along the valley’s tranquil bike path, watching as the emerald meadows stretch endlessly and storybook farmhouses dot the landscape like scattered gems. Each moment reveals more of the Tyrolean magic while the crisp mountain air fills our lungs as we coast through postcard-perfect scenery. |
||
Somewhere along the way, we pause for a delightful lunch before getting back on track, cycling the last stretch of the day to the charming town of Cavalese. Situated within the Fiemme Valley (Val di Fiemme), this historic town is known for its deep-rooted traditions and pride. A climb brings us to the La Roccia Wellness Hotel, a tranquil sanctuary and cosy, family-run hotel perched above the Fiemme Valley. Indulge in panoramic views from the stunning terrace, where every moment feels like a postcard. Take a revitalizing plunge in the infinity pool that seemingly floats above the mountains, or unwind with an array of soothing wellness treatments that promise pure serenity (spa treatments are at own expense). Tonight, we gather for a celebratory aperitif, clinking glasses and savouring the excitement of the days ahead. With our first dinner together, we toast to the thrill of the ride and the many cycling adventures that await in these mesmerising mountains! |
TWO BIKING OPTIONS: Savour a hearty breakfast this morning before we say our goodbyes to Cavalese. We take a shuttle, travelling along the edge of a picturesque valley adorned with hillside vineyards that gracefully tumble down to the banks of the Adige River. Upon arrival at our starting point for the day’s cycling expedition, a quick cappuccino awaits, and our bikes are ready, in preparation for the day's ride. Today offers a vibrant and awe-inspiring transition of scenery. Think apple orchards, vibrant vineyards, majestic castles, and winding rivers forming a dreamlike backdrop for our journey. As you cycle through a series of distinct wine regions celebrated for their native red grapes and exquisite sparkling wines, we take a moment to pause and relish a delightful picnic after the morning's ride. Then, it’s time to hop back on your bike and venture westward through the gentle San Giacomo Pass, descending into the stunning embrace of Lake Garda. Known for its dramatic scenery and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities, Lake Garda offers a more rustic charm compared to its glamorous neighbour, Lake Como—a perfect place to experience la dolce vita. |
||
Upon reaching the water, glide along the beach-lined path to the Sarca River and head north until you arrive in the enchanting town of Arco. Nestled at the foot of a hilltop castle and surrounded by towering limestone peaks, Arco beckons with its beauty. Your next unique retreat, Monastero Arx Vivendi, awaits just a few steps from the historic centre. This 17th-century monastery has been meticulously restored and transformed into a serene hotel, offering indulgent diversions and amenities including a tranquil, lush cloistered garden, and a spa amongst many others. Once settled in, you can unwind in the soothing Finnish sauna, take a refreshing dip in the pool, or pamper yourself with a rejuvenating spa experience following the day’s exertions. As the evening settles in, we convene at one of our favourite local gems, where a delightful culinary affair awaits. |
FOUR BIKING OPTIONS: Following breakfast at the hotel, we cycle along the scenic Sarca River. Our route winds through a blend of bike paths, quiet roads, and charming cobblestone streets, taking us through quaint villages and past the inviting landscapes of this glacial valley. We ride past orchards, olive groves, vineyards, and the otherworldly, lunar-like terrain of the Marocche di Dro. Eager to embrace an exciting challenge and take in stunning views of the Brenta Dolomites? There's an optional detour up to the picturesque Cavedine Valley. Afterward, we regroup with the others for a delightful lunch at a nearby winery. Relax over a leisurely meal, tour the winery, and perhaps, treat yourself to a tasting of organic wines made from grapes and cultivated in the nearby hills. Sample the Trento DOC and the region’s signature white grape, Nosiola—Salute! The local specialties are equally as fascinating; Rebo, a unique blend of Merlot and Teroldego, and Vinto Santo, a rare dessert wine produced by just five local families. After lunch, the choice is yours to make! Continue cycling through this beautiful region, or venture on to an eco-friendly adventure park with a thrilling high ropes course that finishes with a zip-line ride over the Srca River. Better still, you can unwind back at the hotel’s sauna, salt room, or Turkish bath then cool off with a refreshing dip in the pool. Evening today spoils you with a stroll through the charming streets of Arco, or a shuttle to the nearby Riva del Garda to dine at one of the local restaurants. Your trip leaders will be happy to share their favourite spots for a perfect end to the day. |
FOUR BIKING OPTIONS: Fuel up with breakfast, then jump on your bike and let the magic of Lake Garda sweep you away. We skid along the shimmering turquoise waters, with towering mountains embracing the lake like an old friend, as we cruise into wine country. Starting in the Trento valley, we cycle south along the lake's edge, making our way towards the sun-kissed vineyards of Veneto. If you’re feeling spontaneous, ditch the path for a while and dive into the mediaeval charm of Malcesine. Explore the lakefront Scaligeri Castle, where history whispers through the museum halls, or stroll by the picturesque port. Meander through narrow, cobblestone alleys, grab a quirky souvenir or indulge in the ultimate reward—a creamy gelato. For those with an appetite for more, keep riding south along the lake, your legs burning with excitement as you climb the hills to our hidden lunch spot, perched high above the water with views that will leave you breathless. |
||
Post-lunch, it’s your choice—take a breezy ride in the shuttle or keep pedalling through the dreamy landscapes of vineyards and olive groves, leading you to Villa Cordevigo, your luxurious haven for the next two nights. This stunning Relais & Châteaux gem, a former noble estate in Bardolino wine country, now serves up pure relaxation. The afternoon is yours to soak it all in: settle into your plush room, lounge by the pool, or treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering at the spa (spa treatments at own expense). As night falls, we gather for our first dinner at Villa Cordevigo’s enchanting restaurant, where we savour the villa’s finest wines. Cheers to a day well lived! |
THREE BIKING OPTIONS: Prepare to set out today, cycling north along a scenic path, with the Historic Biffis Canal as our guide. Built during Italy's fascist era, this elevated section of the Adige River still provides irrigation to the fertile hills just north of Verona. After a winding uphill ride, we arrive in the charming town of Rivoli Veronese, known for its Austrian fort—perfect for a quick photo stop. From there, continue toward Caprino Veronese, where we meet up just outside town at a cosy, family-run café. Recharge with a strong espresso or a mid-morning cappuccino before a gentle climb through the lush hills surrounding Lake Garda and the heart of Bardolino wine country. We pause at a local winery for a picnic lunch and wine tasting, featuring the town’s signature light red wine with fresh herbal notes, along with crisp whites to refresh your palate. After lunch, you have the option to return to the hotel by bike or hop on the shuttle. The rest of the afternoon is yours to unwind—relax by the pool or treat yourself to a soothing spa session to pamper those cycling muscles. In the evening, raise a glass of your favourite regional wine and toast to the incredible journey we've had, from the Dolomites all the way to Lake Garda! |
Level 1, Approx. 14 kilometres (9 miles), Elevation gain: 213 m (700 ft) Wake up to the magic of your last morning ride, short but soaked in beauty. We cycle through the vineyards, where the morning sun kisses the endless green rows, stretching out like a sea of vines. Drift into the sleepy village of Cavaion Veronese, and maybe pull over for a cappuccino at Bar Centrale, nestled by a sun-dappled church. With your heart full and your legs spinning, loop back to the hotel for one final breath of the Italian countryside. By late morning, our exciting adventure wraps up with a shuttle ride to the Verona train station. Time to bid farewell—but not before soaking in every last moment. Onlyluxe Travel and the tour operator may require an assessment of your medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a tour with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the tour has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any tour up to 60 days prior to departure if the minimum number requirement is unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the tour or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.
Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.
Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.
In the genuine spirit of expedition travel, we encourage exploration and adventure offering flexibility in challenging environments. This itinerary is only a guide and is subject to change due to weather, sea and other conditions beyond our control.
For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.
Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
