Welcome to Vilnius, the beautiful heart and capital of Lithuania. Arrive early at your hotel if you fancy the opportunity to walk around the most spectacular Baroque quarters in Eastern and Central Europe; some even call it the biggest north of the Alps for its size. You may also opt to explore Vilnius in more depth. By evening, gather for a welcome meeting with your tour leaders and other group members. Say sveiki! (hello in Lithuanian) and share exciting insights about the adventure ahead. Dinner follows immediately in the hotel's French-inspired restaurant with hearty meals prepared with locally sourced pork, veal, fish, potatoes, soups and delicious dumplings. Located in Vilnius's quiet Naujamiestis district, and 10-15 minutes from the UNESCO Old Town, City Hotel Algirdas offers spacious, air-conditioned rooms with a french-inspired restaurant among other comfortable amenities. |

Approx. 6 km (4 miles), 2–3 hours walking Today we take the winding streets and grand churches of the Old Town. Stretching for approximately 3.59 square kilometers, this historic UNESCO World Heritage is one of the largest surviving medieval old towns in Northern Europe. Pause at the iconic Gates of Dawn (Aušros Vartai) to admire what happens to be the sole-surviving 16th-century city gate. Its chapel is also famous for housing the most revered miraculous paintings of Virgin Mary in Lithuania. Next, we visit Vilnius University (the oldest in the country and one of the oldest in Central and Eastern Europe), finishing at the striking Cathedral Square composed of stunning baroque courtyards, historic lecture halls, and the famous St. John's Church. There will be free time to enjoy lunch in Vilnius before a quick 50 minute transfer brings us to Kernavė. In this mystical city, myths and legends illuminate its pagan past as the capital of Lithuania's Grand Duchy, some of which you will learn as you go. |

With time to spare, stroll through the White Hill Education Trail in Neris Regional Park, starting at the observation platform atop White Hill. From this spot, picturesque views of the river's meandering form twists and bends along the Neris. We follow the beautiful forest hugging the river to a designated resting spot and further to the dramatic hill forts guarding the enchanting Pajauta Valley. Wrap the day with a drive to Trakai to behold the fairy-tale Island Castle on Lake Galvė, and back to Vilnius. |

Approx. 8 km (5 miles), 2–3 hours walking This morning, we take a 200km (185 miles), four hour ride to Žemaitija National Park. Today’s adventure is set for Plokštinė, the USSR'S first underground nuclear missile base, now the Cold War Museum. Take a look into the eerie bunkers while keeping a keen ear for chilling stories of Soviet secrets in the Baltics. The museum also features a 100-foot-deep silo which once held R-12 missiles with 2-megaton warheads aimed at Western Europe. For context, this is roughly 130 times more powerful in explosive energy than the Hiroshima bomb. Transfer to the welcoming coastal city of Liepāja to spend the night. Centrally located in Liepāja,and also the largest hotel in the city, Liva hotel shares a close proximity with the beach promenade while boasting well-maintained rooms in classic decor. Find comfort in the many amenities such as the fitness center, bar, and on-site restaurant, or take advantage of the convenient beach access for a post-hour relaxation. |

Approx. 4 km (3 miles), 1-2 hours walking Today, we cross country to Latvia with the focus set on Kuldīga, said to be the prettiest town in the country. Here, you will experience the Venta Rapid, Europe's widest waterfall at a massive 249 meters and also famous for the "flying fish" spectacle. Take a leisurely stroll along, or even wade across parts of the broad rapid to gain a sense for the scale of this natural wonder. In spring, and sometimes autumn, thousands of freshwater vimba leap upstream to spawn over the cascades; and lucky for you, the striking red-brick Bridge runs parallel, offering just the sweet spot to soak it all in. Following the tour, a quick 1 hour drive transports us to a nearby vineyard for a relaxed wine and cider tasting. Each session is brought to life as the winemaker walks us through their processes with opportunities to peek into the cellar, accompanied by local wine-making stories. Match the immersive encounter with a lineup of wines served with cheese and snacks; also, non-alcoholic juices for anyone skipping the booze. |

The Island Hotel is our river-side retreat for the next two nights and is located just a 12-minutes walk from Riga’s Old Town. Unwind at the sauna or find a cozy nook overlooking the Daugava River. |

Venture on streets like Alberta and check out its facades alive with wild sculpted faces, mythical creatures, and finely worked floral/geometric details. Your guide will share stories about the Jugendstil movement and how it led to a complete transformation of Riga back then. With one of Europe's biggest collections of Art Nouveau gems, this stroll takes you wandering into the city's cultural story. The afternoon is all yours; maybe chill in nearby parks, grab a coffee at a cozy café, or browse the lively shops in the city center. |

Approx. 7 km (4 miles), 2–3 hours walking Bid farewell to Latvia, then head off to Estonia over what feels like a smooth 5-hour drive, plus an additional 30 minutes ferry to Saaremaa. This is the largest of the over 2,200 islands in the country. About 45 km (28 miles) from Riga, we stop in Saulkrasti to refresh with a stroll along the famous boardwalk and dunes. If the weather cooperates, we can stretch the walk further to soak in the farther reaches of the beach. Beyond that, a chance to grab lunch opens up in the sunny coastal resort of Pärnu stretching a mix of sandy beaches, promenade and eateries. Finish up and complete the journey with an overnight stay in Saaremaa's only town and capital, Kuressaare. Nestled seaside in Kuressaare’s recreation area, the cozy Staadioni Hotel is equipped to standard with 27 spacious and air-conditioned rooms framing sea or stadium views. All offer easy access to its sauna, and include bicycle rental options to explore nearby attractions. |

Approx. 4 km (2 miles), 1-2 hours walking Arrive this morning to Estonia's second-largest Island, Hiiumaa, and part of the UNESCO West Estonian Archipelago Biosphere Reserve. Hiiumaa is blissfully free from noise and light, making the days here extraordinarily peaceful with super-clear skies by night. Fresh off the ferry, the island's wonders are at your disposal. Start with an epic trail to Sääretirp, which is essentially a razor-thin gravel spit slicing into the Baltic. The path we take is wildly adorned with colourful honeysuckle, buckthorn, sea kale, and snowball trees contrasting perfectly with the sea. Soak it all in before a breezy 30-minute drive to Kärdla, nestled in a 455-million-year-old meter crater, and is surprisingly the sole town on the island. Finally, the lighthouse showdown! Both Tahkuna and Kõpu are iconic in Estonia. While the former stands at 43 m (tallest in Estonia), the latter is one of the world's oldest lighthouses still operating since 1531. Relish the opportunity to climb to the latter's tower sweeping with forests, sea, and endless islands. And as the daylight fades, we ferry back to Saaremma. |

Today, we head to Tallinn, but not before a chance to properly explore Saaremaa. Visit the Kaali Crater, formed by a meteorite just 7,500 years ago; the Angla Windmill Park, home to a historic Dutch-style mill built in 1927; the 13th-century Karja Church with its intricate stone carvings and rare pagan-inspired ceiling symbols; and the Kuressaare Episcopal Castle, which has become a symbol of the island (also the Baltic's best-preserved medieval fortress). Tallinn embarkation sets in with approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes extending our destinations and free time for lunch en route. Arrival is planned for the afternoon, so there's time to relax or better still, explore Tallinn as you please. We recommend grabbing a delicious Estonian meal at one of the many restaurants for a tasty introduction to Tallinn. There are also other great options you may want to try; like shopping on Viru street with its mix of local boutiques, souvenir shops and international brands on display. Check out the Tallinn Seaplane Harbour for a chance to browse through a collection of ships and submarines in a historic seaplane hanger. |

Next, wander into Kalamaja district where we won't just unravel Tallin's bohemian heart, but also walk amidst its colorful wooden houses, feel its artsy energy, and pick up hints of its original history as an old fishing village. Approx. 5 km (3 miles), 1–2 hours walking This morning, a 15-minute transfer whisks you to the ferry where we cross the Baltic Sea to the fresh, green, and vibrant Finnish Capital of Helsinki, Finland (about 2 hours 10 minutes). From there, a relaxing 1-hour transfer brings us to a true slice of Finnish wilderness, the Sipoonkorpi National Park with its lovely lakes, green forests and rugged rocky outcrop: classical Finnish scenery. We follow the winding 5 km (3 miles) Fiskträsk Trail, through ancient canyons and dramatic rock formations, and additional stretches of lush primeval forest that lead to the beautiful wilderness lake Fiskträsk. Spring brings milder weather, as temperatures gradually rise from 5°C to 15°C, melting the snow and ice. Summers are warm and bright, with temperatures averaging between 18°C and 25°C. In Finland, this season is marked by the Midnight Sun, offering extended daylight hours. Autumn sees a return to cooler temperatures and changing foliage, preparing the landscape for the coming winter.
The walking level on this trip is rated Level 1 Leisurely.
Level 1 Leisurely: Experience is not necessary; anyone fit and healthy enough to complete a weekend walk will thrive. Walks are often optional. Trails are seldom flat, so expect a reasonable number of ascents and descents. You normally walk for two to five hours per day; daily ascents will likely be around 985ft to 1,640ft (300m to 500m), perhaps with the odd day around 1,970ft (600m).
Level 3 Moderate: Expect easy, medium-length walks or harder, shorter walks. Some experience is useful, but not essential. Good health and reasonable fitness are important. There will be walks at higher altitudes and some longer, harder days. Generally, though, the underfoot conditions will be fair. A walking day is normally five to seven hours; daily ascents will likely be around 1,640ft to 2,625ft (500m to 800m), perhaps with the odd day around 2,955ft to 3,280ft (900m to 1,000m).
Level 5 Challenging: Fitness is vital with extended walking in mountainous terrain. You might also experience high altitude, challenging climates and remote locations. Trekking experience is desirable, but not vital if you are confident in your physical condition. Walking days are usually between six and eight hours, although they may be longer for passes or peaks. Daily ascents can be around 2,955ft to 3,280ft (900m to 1,000m), perhaps with the odd day around 3,610ft to 3,940ft (1,100m to 1,200m).
Level 7 Tough: Trekking experience is essential and preferably at altitude. You need complete confidence in your ability to trek for many days over difficult terrain. You may encounter extreme altitude and weather conditions and may need to use ice axes and crampons. Stamina is essential as walking days last six to nine hours (sometimes more on occasions). Daily ascents will likely be around 2,955ft to 3,280ft (900m to 1,000m), perhaps with the odd day around 3,610ft to 3,940ft (1,100m to 1,200m).
Split and optional grades: Where a trip falls between two grades, an intermediate or ‘split’ grade is used. For example, Level 2 (Leisurely/Moderate). Occasionally there are optional ascents available; in this case, the grade will be highlighted.

Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a tour with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the tour has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any tour up to 60 days prior to departure if the minimum number requirement is unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the tour or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.
Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.
Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.
For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.
Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
