Location

Tiwi Island Retreat is situated on the South West Coast of Bathurst Island, one of the Tiwi Islands, approximately 80-kilometres north of Darwin. Often referred to as the ‘Islands of Smiles’, the Tiwi Islands are one of the world’s most remote island destinations, famous for the traditional lifestyle of the largely Indigenous population. You can access the islands via a 30-minute charter flight from Darwin.

 

Island Living

Choose from 18 recently refurbished rooms including 9 Queen Rooms, 5 King Single Rooms and 3 Family Rooms containing 1 queen bed and 1 bunk bed. Each room has been refurbished in a light, breezy coastal style, embracing the beachfront setting. Common amenities include air-conditioning, ceiling fan, coat hangers and hanging space and linen and towels. Please note bathroom facilities are communal, however, there are separate men’s and women’s showers and toilets, both featuring premium bath products. Family rooms feature their shared bathroom facilities.

Contemporary Dining

Meals are all-inclusive during your stay along with canapes, snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments. The Tiwi People

The Tiwi people have owned and occupied the Tiwi Islands throughout history. Today, the population is just over 3,000 and more than 90 percent Tiwi. The Tiwi People have long considered themselves to be different from the inhabitants of the mainland and do not consider themselves to be Aboriginal, but rather uniquely Tiwi.
