- Climb Japan’s largest active volcano, Mt Aso in the centre of Kyushu with one of the world’s largest caldera with a circumference of over 100 kilometres. The caldera harbours 5 peask: Kishimadake, Eboshi dake, Nakadake and Nekodake, each with a unique hiking experience through the incredible range offering spectacular vistas over the landscapes and surrounding peaks and craters. See the accessible active volcano peak of Mount Nakadake in the centre of the caldera, walk among the grass-covered plain of Kusasenri and see the small, beautifully shaped volcanic cone of Komezuka.

- One of the five peaks of the central cone group of Mount Aso, the Mount Eboshi hike is noted as one of the easier options taking just over an hour for a return trip to the summit with remarkable views over Nakadake crater.

- Walk the Takachiho Olle Course to the Takachiho Gorge through hillsides, past Shinto shrines, terraced fields, tea plantations and forest. See the narrow chasm cut through the rock by the Gokase river.

Follow the entire mountain chain from Ebino Kogen to The Takachiho-gawara visitor centre on a 12km tail reaching the tallest peak of Mount Karakunidake at 1700metres high in Kirishima-Yaku National Park.

- Hike to the summit of Mount kaimon, an almost perfect conical volcano known to resemble the form of Mt Fuji. Walk among forests of heavy green foliage, wild plants and big roots, rocks and packed dirt path on the southern tip of Kyushu. With clear weather, at the peak you will be able to see the southern end of the Satsuma Peninsula, Cape Nagasakibana and a great deal further inland.
