Approx. 42km (26 miles), 2 hours biking, Elevation gain: 290m (951 ft) Upon your arrival, one of our friendly team members will greet you and arrange your transfer to our elegant hotel in Torino. After a professional bike fitting with our guides, we will embark on a brief welcome ride to ensure your equipment feels perfectly adjusted. Our first stop is the memorable village of Venaria Reale, which is dominated by the magnificent Reggia di Venaria Reale. Once a former hunting residence for the royal House of Savoy, this sprawling Baroque palace and its gardens rival the grandeur of Versailles. We'll pause here for a coffee, allowing time to appreciate the sheer scale and beauty of this historic estate. This evening, we will come together to raise a glass, toasting the beginning of what promises to be an epic adventure through Italy. |

Approx. 88km (55 miles), 4-5 hours biking, Elevation gain: 1460m (4,790 ft) In the mid-19th century, as Italy fought for unification, France provided crucial military aid against the Austrian Empire. In return, Italy ceded Nice and the Duchy of Savoy to France. However, the strategic Susa Valley and the city of Turin remained firmly in Italian hands, creating the unique border region we will explore today—a place where Italian and French cultures have mingled for centuries. Our journey begins with an ascent of the magnificent Colle del Lys, a challenging 14-kilometer climb with an average gradient of 6.5%, famously featured in the 2019 Giro d’Italia. After conquering this legendary pass and descending into the valley, we'll arrive in the charming town of Susa. For thousands of years, Susa has served as a welcoming stop for travellers crossing the Alps. Its streets are a living museum, where you can discover remarkably preserved Roman ruins, such as an ancient amphitheatre and the Arch of Augustus, alongside impressive medieval architecture. You’ll stay at Hotel Napoleon, nestled in the heart of Susa, offering a serene retreat after a day of exploration. Rejuvenate your senses in the tranquil wellness centre, complete with a sauna and Turkish bath, before savouring exquisite local cuisine at the hotel's renowned restaurant. |

Approx. 79km (49 miles), 5–6 hours biking, Elevation gain: 2860m (9383 ft) Our day begins with the spectacular Colle delle Finestre, a true classic of the Alps. The climb is as challenging as it is beautiful, winding its way up the mountain with a series of dramatic twists and turns. After a gentle warm-up, we’ll tackle the most demanding part of the ascent, including the iconic final 7 kilometres of gravel road that have made this climb a legend in the world of cycling. After reaching the summit, a breathtaking descent awaits, guiding us through serene alpine meadows and cool forests. Our journey continues towards the renowned ski resort of Sestriere, perched high in the mountains, and then onward to the majestic Mont Cenis pass. From this historic crossing point, we leave Italy behind and descend into France, making our way to the remarkable town of Briançon. As the highest city in France, Briançon is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its formidable seventeenth-century fortifications designed by Vauban, Louis XIV's famed military engineer. |

Approx. 115km (71 miles), 5-6 hours biking, Elevation gain: 3510m (11,515 ft) This stage immerses us in cycling history as we conquer three legendary climbs celebrated in both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France. Our first challenge is the formidable Col d’Izoard, a pass where the great Fausto Coppi famously led the charge in both prestigious races back in 1949. From there, we ascend to the magnificent Colle dell’Agnello, one of the highest paved passes in the Alps. This epic climb, which has tested cyclists in both the Giro and the Tour on multiple occasions, marks our dramatic re-entry into Italy. A long, thrilling descent brings us to the charming village of Sampeyre nestled in the valley below. Here, we take a moment before turning to face our final trial of the day: the demanding Colle di Sampeyre. Upon reaching the summit, the welcoming sight of a mountain refuge greets us—our serene sanctuary for the night, where we will rest and recount the triumphs of an unforgettable day of epic climbing. Your haven for tonight is Rifugio Meira Garneri, perched atop the majestic Colle di Sampeyre. After a day of triumphant climbing, surrender to the bliss of the panoramic spa, unwinding in the sauna or Turkish bath while gazing out at the breathtaking mountain vistas that surround your elegant alpine sanctuary. |

Approx. 90 km (56 miles), 4-5 hours biking, Elevation gain: 2330 m (7644 ft) Today we face the Colle della Fauniera, a long and demanding climb with gradients that rarely dip below 10%. This legendary pass has featured only once in the Giro d’Italia, during the iconic 1999 stage where Marco Pantani made his decisive move, ultimately finishing second behind Paolo Savoldelli, who showcased his skill with one of the most technical descents in the Alps. Following in the tire tracks of these cycling champions, we will conclude our ride in the charming town of Borgo San Dalmazzo. From there, a short transfer will bring us to the enchanting city of Cuneo. Known for its elegant arcaded streets and rich history, Cuneo was established as a strategic citadel by the House of Savoy to defend against French incursions, and its stately architecture and vibrant piazzas invite exploration and reflection after our demanding day on the road. Here, in the heart of Cuneo, we will find sanctuary at Hotel Le Lanterne, a charming residence where modern elegance meets historical character. Indulge in an evening of refined local cuisine at the hotel's esteemed restaurant, a perfect reward after a day of conquering legendary alpine passes. |

Approx. 113km (70 miles), 5–6 hours biking, Elevation gain: 3050m (10,007 ft) Our journey from Cuneo to Saint-Martin-Vésubie takes us across the Colle della Lombarda, a breathtaking Alpine border pass that connects Italy and France. The road, completed in 1964, not only links these two nations but also provides access to the Isola 2000 ski station, a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Our final destination, Saint-Martin-Vésubie, is a charming village nestled in the Vésubie Valley. Once part of the historic County of Nice and known as San Martino Lantosca, it was ceded by Italy to France in 1860. The village retains a unique blend of French and Italian cultures, evident in its architecture and tranquil atmosphere, offering a perfect place to rest and reflect on our journey. This climb holds a special place in cycling lore. It was here that Tony Rominger claimed a Tour de France stage victory in 1993. More recently, Vincenzo Nibali secured a memorable win during the 2016 Giro d’Italia, though he tackled the ascent from the French side, underscoring the pass's legendary status in the world of professional cycling. |

Approx. 64km (40 miles), 3 hours biking, Elevation gain: 590m (1,935 ft) As Paris prepares to host the Olympic Games, the 2024 Tour de France will make its historic finish in Nice, and we will follow in the tracks of the professionals for our final ride. Nestled between the shimmering Mediterranean and the peaks of the Southern Alps, Nice offers a truly stunning backdrop for our journey's conclusion. Our ride will take us along the iconic Promenade des Anglais, a grand boulevard that curves along the Baie des Anges. Here, you'll pedal past legendary Belle Époque hotels, architectural treasures that predate Nice’s annexation by France in 1860. This storied promenade, a symbol of Riviera glamour, has served as the final stage of the prestigious Paris-Nice race since 1933, making it a fitting end to our own grand tour. |

You need to advise Onlyluxe travel and the tour operator on any pre-existing medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of your requiring medical attention, or that might affect the normal conduct of a trip and the enjoyment of other trip members. Onlyluxe Travel and the tour operator may require an assessment of your medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. If you fail to adequately notify the tour operator of any pre-existing medical conditions and/or disability, the tour operator reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel your participation in a trip at any time, including after the commencement of your trip, with no right of refund if your medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the trip and the enjoyment of other trip members.
Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a tour with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the tour has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any tour up to 60 days prior to departure if the minimum number requirement is unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the tour or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.
Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.
Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.
For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.
Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
