Departing from Brisbane, set out on an overnight rail journey aboard the iconic Spirit of Queensland to Cairns, the gateway to tropical north Queensland. Upon arrival in Cairns, a private chauffeur will transfer you 150 kilometres north-west to Mt Mulligan Lodge. Set upon 28,000 hectares of captivating and timeless Queensland back country, Mt Mulligan offers an escape from the everyday and a unique opportunity to experience life on a working cattle farm. During your three-night stay, you’ll enjoy unique daily experiences designed to make the most of the rugged outback territory: historic mine and township tours, ATV adventures, sunset drinks with gourmet picnic hampers and more.
On Day 5 of your trip, transfer by road to Daintree Ecolodge for two nights in the heart of the oldest continually surviving tropical rainforest in the world. You’ll stay in one of just 15 bayans (treehouses) immersed in the canopy, waking to the sound of birds and enjoying daily rainforest experiences such as guided walks, river cruises or a Julaymba Bar Cocktail Class. It is impossible not to zen out with morning yoga among the trees or a decadent rainforest spa treatment.
On Day 7, you’ll transfer by road to Cairns Airport (CNS), where you’ll board a private helicopter for a breathtaking 90-minute flight over the Great Barrier Reef to the luxurious Orpheus Island Lodge. During your three-night stay, you’ll have access to pristine dive sites boasting 1,100 of the 1,500 species of fish on the reef. You can swim, snorkel, fish or take the helm of a motorised dingy to discover the many pristine coves and reefs that fringe the island. If you’d prefer to take it easy, relax and succumb to a unique Indigenous-inspired treatment at the Gwandalan day spa. This resort truly is the jewel of Far North Queensland.
You trip concludes with one last scenic helicopter flight to Townsville Airport (TSV), where you will commence your onward journey.
