Departing from Brisbane, set out on an overnight rail journey aboard the iconic Spirit of Queensland to Cairns, the gateway to tropical north Queensland. Upon arrival in Cairns, a private chauffeur will transfer you 150 kilometres north-west to the luxurious Mt Mulligan Lodge. Set upon 28,000 hectares of captivating and timeless Queensland back country, Mt Mulligan Lodge offers an escape from the everyday and a unique opportunity to experience over 37,000 years of history. The property bears the marks of the historic gold and coal rush and in its current operation, as a working cattle station, the pastoral history of Australia.
During your stay, you’ll enjoy a range of experiences designed to make the most of the rugged outback territory. Mt Mulligan Lodge offers guided tours of the goldfields including a sighting of Australia’s oldest gold crusher at Tyrconnell gold mine, exploration of the historic Mount Mulligan coal mine and abandoned township, ATV adventures discovering the beauty and history of the region, hikes around the southern face of Mount Mulligan, sunset drinks overlooking the escarpment, wildlife spotting, stargazing, Barramundi fishing and more. You’ll also enjoy unlimited use of paddleboards, kayaks, light fishing gear, electric buggies and a sky gazing telescope. At the conclusion of your stay, at 2:35pm on your departure day, you’ll return to Cairns Airport via helicopter – the sweeping aerial views of the 180-million-year-old Daintree Rainforest, the lush Atherton Tablelands and the rugged terrain that surrounds the majestic Mt Mulligan itself must be seen to be believed!
You’ll stay three-nights’ in a luxury outback tent featuring a bedroom with king bed or twin beds, ensuite bathroom and a private deck with breathtaking views of the outback and escarpment (option to upgrade to retreat, room, suite or pavilion at extra cost). All meals are included: you’ll enjoy a light, contemporary and daily-changing menu that showcases a bounty of locally sourced, caught and freshly grown seasonal fare. Wash it all down with a selection of quality wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks.
This one-of-a-kind package includes 4-nights’ accommodation: one night in a Railbed onboard the Spirit of Queensland and three nights’ in a luxury outback tent at Mt Mulligan Lodge.
