Itinerary
TWO HIKING OPTIONS: Your Corsican journey begins at 10:15 a.m. at The Port Captaincy on Quai Pascal Paoli, set along the marina in Porto-Vecchio. Arrive dressed for hiking with a daypack and rain gear; your luggage will be sent ahead to our first night's accommodation. Welcome to Corsica! After meeting in the chic seaside town of Porto-Vecchio, we shuttle to L'Ospedale, a charming mountain village tucked amid lush forests and rugged peaks. Following a brief introduction from your Trip Leaders, we set out on our first hike, winding through pine forests to a traditional hamlet. After lunch, we continue to a stunning viewpoint offering panoramic views of Porto-Vecchio’s bay and surrounding peaks. |
||
Post-hike, we head to Casadelmar, our elegant beachfront retreat for the night. Unwind in your room, relax on the beachfront terrace, or visit the spa (at own expense). We’ll gather this evening for a welcome reception and a delicious dinner at Casadelmar’s Grill & Lounge, capping off a perfect first day in Corsica. |
TWO BIKING OPTIONS: After a hearty breakfast, your Trip Leaders get you fitted on your bike and provide a quick session on riding techniques and safety. With a final check, we set off on today’s exhilarating ride along segments of the Mare a Mare (Sea to Sea) trail, weaving through the Alta Roca region’s enchanting alpine perchés, or perched villages. Be sure to bring some extra layers as we ascend into the crisp mountain air. As we pedal from east to west, the landscape transforms dramatically—from rugged coastlines to serene mountain roads lined with fragrant pines. Challenge yourself with the climb over the Bocca d'Illarata pass, where you might pause in the quaint villages of Zonza or Levie for a coffee and a moment of reflection. On clear days, the jagged peaks of the Aiguilles de Bavella pierce the sky, offering breathtaking views that capture the wild heart of Corsica. We make our way further inland, stopping for a delicious lunch in the hilltop village of Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano, a hidden gem nestled in the Corsican hills. Afterward, you can either shuttle or continue biking toward the Valinco Gulf. The ride back to the coast offers a thrilling mix of descents and rewarding climbs as we traverse the island’s western flank, eventually reaching the stunning shores of Propriano. |
||
Our home for the next two nights is the luxurious Hôtel Marinca & Spa, an oasis of comfort and elegance. Settle into your room, stroll along the private beach, or indulge in a spa treatment to rejuvenate after a day of adventure (spa at own expense). In the evening, savour a gastronomic dinner at the hotel’s renowned restaurant, where the flavours of Corsica come alive, rounding off a perfect day on the island. |
TWO HIKING OPTIONS: Following a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we set off on a private zodiac ride across the sparkling sea to the tranquil village of Campomoro. Here, we trade our boat for kayaks, gliding along the pristine coastline, pausing to swim in secluded coves and marvel at the vibrant marine life dancing below the surface. Back in Campomoro, we savor a delicious lunch at a seaside restaurant known for its fresh, locally caught fish, with time for a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters if you’re tempted. For those who prefer to stay back at the hotel, the day is yours to enjoy—lounge by the pool, relax on the private beach, indulge in a soothing spa treatment, or unwind in your room with a good book and the gentle whisper of the sea breeze. After lunch, we lace up our hiking boots and embark on a breathtaking coastal hike, winding past hidden sandy coves, dramatic rock formations, and rugged cliffs toward a beautifully preserved Genovese tower that stands sentinel over the sea. |
||
We return to the hotel in the afternoon, with time to relax and soak in the serene atmosphere. As the day winds down, you’re free to explore Propriano’s charming dining scene at your own pace, choosing from a variety of delightful restaurants to enjoy dinner on your own—each offering a taste of Corsican hospitality and flavour. |
THREE BIKING OPTIONS: Start your day with a classic Corsican breakfast by the sea, savoring fresh local flavours. Then, hop on a scenic shuttle ride that winds along the coast to our trailhead, where today’s adventure begins. Our path meanders along a dramatic coastal trail, guiding us to the ancient town of Bonifacio, a medieval gem perched high on the island’s southern cliffs. Along the way, feast your eyes on sweeping views of the Lavezzi Archipelago, the iconic Pertusato lighthouse, and the endless blue expanse of the Mediterranean Sea. Upon reaching Bonifacio, enjoy lunch at your leisure, choosing from charming cafés nestled within the town’s labyrinthine streets. Afterward, we’ll delve into Bonifacio’s fascinating past on a guided walking tour, discovering historic treasures like the Romanesque chapel and the Escaliers d’Aragon—a legendary staircase carved into the sheer limestone cliffs that once served as a lifeline to the ancient citadel. Wander among the town’s dramatic clifftop buildings, which seem impossibly balanced on the rocky edges. |

We reconvene to bid Corsica farewell and say “buongiorno” to Sardinia as we board a ferry to Italy’s dazzling Mediterranean jewel. Arriving in Porto Cervo, a luxurious seaside resort town, we check into the elegant Cervo Hotel, perfectly situated in the heart of the village with stunning sea views. Embrace the slower pace of Sardinia with a relaxing afternoon—take a siesta, enjoy a lazy swim in the pool, or simply soak in the sun with private beach access. As evening falls, we gather for a delicious dinner in glamorous Porto Cervo, where the flavors of Sardinia are the perfect ending to an unforgettable day. Please note: Ferry schedules between Corsica and Sardinia can be subject to strong winds and rough seas. On the rare occasion that our ferry does not run as scheduled, we'll extend our stay in Corsica with alternate activities until we're able to travel. Should this be the case on your trip, your leaders will share more details about what to expect. |
THREE HIKING OPTIONS: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, then gear up for an unforgettable cycling journey through Sardinia’s spectacular landscapes. A private zodiac whisks us across the turquoise waters to the wild and untouched islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago, a nature reserve brimming with unspoiled beauty. We’ll pedal along serene coastal roads on the islands of Caprera and Maddalena, weaving through aromatic Mediterranean flora, discovering hidden coves, pristine beaches, and quaint seaside villages. Along the way, we’ll visit the historic home of Giuseppe Garibaldi, the legendary hero of Italian unification. Feel free to take a break in the charming town of La Maddalena, where a waterfront café awaits under swaying palms—the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee while soaking in the island ambiance. After a leisurely lunch, and if the weather smiles upon us, we’ll unwind on the sun-kissed beaches, marveling at the coastline’s sorbet-colored rock formations. Island-hop by zodiac and, if you’re up for it, take a dip in the crystal-clear waters to explore this aquatic wonderland. |
||
As the day draws to a close, we return to the luxurious Cervo Hotel to freshen up before gathering for a classic Sardinian farewell toast. We’ll cap off our adventure with a delightful dinner, celebrating the magic of this Mediterranean paradise. |
Level 1, Approx. 5 km (3 miles), Elevation gain: 91 m (300 ft) If the allure of Sardinia’s stunning coastline still calls to you this morning, join us for one last adventure along the breathtaking Costa Smeralda. A quick shuttle ride brings us to the picturesque Pevero area, where we set off on a scenic seaside trail that winds between sun-kissed boulders and secluded beaches. With every step, soak in sweeping views of the sparkling sea, the distant silhouettes of the Maddalena islands, and even a glimpse of Corsica on the horizon. Pause for a final moment of serenity—perhaps with a coffee in hand, toes in the sand—as you savor the island’s beauty one last time. We’ll then make our way back to the hotel to gather our belongings and catch the shuttle to Olbia, where our unforgettable Sardinian journey comes to an end. Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and Age Limits
You need to advise Onlyluxe travel and the tour operator on any pre-existing medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of your requiring medical attention, or that might affect the normal conduct of a trip and the enjoyment of other trip members. Onlyluxe Travel and the tour operator may require an assessment of your medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. If you fail to adequately notify the tour operator of any pre-existing medical conditions and/or disability, the tour operator reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel your participation in a trip at any time, including after the commencement of your trip, with no right of refund if your medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the trip and the enjoyment of other trip members.
Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a tour with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the tour has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any tour up to 60 days prior to departure if the minimum number requirement is unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the tour or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.
Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.
Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.
For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.
Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
