Itinerary
Today, you will be transferred to Torres del Paine. Scheduled transfers connect the following locations: The road journey is scenic and highly atmospheric. You'll have a glimpse of wild birds and wonderful Patagonian landscapes. The day ends with your arrival and overnight stay at the eco camp, with a prime view of the majestic Torres. Sunset is usually around 11 pm during the summer months, meaning that there will still be enough daylight for you to admire the Patagonian steppe with its guanacos and snow-peaked mountain horizon once you arrive. |
Difficulty: Moderate After breakfast you'll be transferred toward Pudeto dock where you board a boat across Lake Pehoe. Then you begin the challenging trek to Valle Frances (French Valley), along a steep trail that leads to the very heart of the Paine Massif. A swifter walk will lead you to the hanging bridge over the French River, located at the foot of the south east face of the Massif, where you will be treated to fantastic views of the valley. Continue to ascend towards the upper section of the valley where you will be able to marvel at the extensive mass of the valley's geological formations. After an upward trek, you will pause for a picnic and relax a while. This day's trek will end as you descend through an undulating terrain of mixed grassland and light forest which will take you to Refugio Paine Grande, located on the peaceful shores of Lake Pehoe. |
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate Hike from Paine Grande Refugio along the shores of Lake Pehoe to the northern side of the glacially beautiful Lake Grey. After picnic lunch, take a boat ride to the huge, crystalline facade of Glacier Grey, where you will have plenty of time to marvel at the calving glacier. From the southern end of Glacier Grey, you will transfer to the eco camp. Please note the Lake Grey cruise is weather dependent and also can be canceled if the required minimum of 10 passengers is not reached. If either is the case, you have option to trek up to the sightseeing point and be rewarded with wonderful, panoramic views of the Glacier instead. Then you will return on foot to Paine Grande and take a catamaran to Pudeto’s dock, where you will be picked up and driven to the eco camp. |
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard Walk from the eco campsite towards Hostería Las Torres before ascending to Ascencio Valley on the Tower's eastern face. Mountain ridges, beech forests and small rivers line the scenic walk towards the valley. After climbing the steep moraine, a huge mass of boulders, you will be finally rewarded that iconic base-view of the Towers - Three gigantic granite monoliths, the remains of a great cirque sheared away by the forces of glacial ice. After a tough uphill climb, the Towers eventually come into full view, rising majestically before you, with the glacial lake visible below. After feasting on the view and our picnic, you backtrack along the same trail through Ascencio Valley and return to the eco camp for a well-deserved dinner. |
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive back to Punta Arenas. The following is standard group transfer schedule: |

Overnight at Campsite

Note: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all standard domes will be reserved for individual travelers or travelers from the same reservation group.
The Patagonian Andes is very exposed to winds that circle the Antarctic landmass. In addition, the strong marine influence and the effect of the Southern Patagonia Icefield make the weather hard to predict. In spring or early summer, fine weather may deteriorate almost without warning, bringing rain and even snow. Even in summer (December to March), you should come prepared to find strong cold winds (up to 130 km/hr) and rainfall. The summer’s average temperature is 11ºC/52ºF (24ºC max, 2ºC min). However, just as quickly as the weather turns nasty, it can become lovely and sunny. So come prepared for all types of weather!
The best time to travel to Torres del Paine is between the months of October and April. These months are spring and summer for the southern hemisphere, averaging 16 hours of sunlight with a lesser chance of rain.

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and Age Limits
You need to advise Onlyluxe travel and the tour operator on any pre-existing medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of your requiring medical attention, or that might affect the normal conduct of a trip and the enjoyment of other trip members. Onlyluxe Travel and the tour operator may require an assessment of your medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The walks take place in very special wilderness settings. The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.
Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.
Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.
For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.
Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
